# Manage Departments (MIS)

**Permissions**

Users will require 'Can view curriculum' and 'Can manage curriculum' permissions. 

 

**Set up Departments**

To manage departments, navigate in the main menu from **Curriculum \> Curriculum set up \> Departments**. The page enables courses to be added to departments and department lists to be copied across into a new academic year.

#### **Add a new Department**

From the page use the ‘**+Add new department**’ button to create a department.  Then save.

A new department will display as a tab. 

 

#### **Add courses/subjects to departments**

From the Unknown department list tab, type the name of the department to move the course to. Once saved the course will then display as part of that department throughout GO 4 Schools. This allows users to view GO 4 Schools analysis of subjects by department groups.

#### **Set up departments for the new Academic Year**

Using the Academic Year selector change to the year you wish to set up.

No departments will display so select ‘**Copy departments from another year’**.

Select the year you wish to departments to be copied from, this can be checked on the list provided in the Copy departments modal. Then save.

All departments will be copied over so new courses set up or those copied from previous years can be added to the departments in that academic year.  Any unwanted departments can be deleted using the ‘Delete department’ button, any courses will then move to the unknown department.
