[Exams](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/mis/exams?hsLang=en-gb) # Managing Exam Clashes #### **Permissions** To manage exam clashes you will need the following permissions: ![A screenshot of a computer AI-generated content may be incorrect.](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-17-3783-AM.png?width=398&height=406&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-17-3783-AM.png) #### **Clashes** To check for sessions with unresolved clashes, click on the **Check for clashes** button from the Schedule tab of the selected exam season.  When clashes are detected, a flag will appear next to the session. ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-16-0756-AM.png?width=1355&height=492&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-16-0756-AM.png)  Click on the **AM/PM** link and select the **Clashes** tab to show the clash details.  The number of EAA will be displayed next to the candidate’s name, if appropriate.  To resolve the clash, click on the pencil icon in the Resolution column. ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-17-6580-AM.png?width=1373&height=512&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-17-6580-AM.png)   The clashing exams will be shown, together with the candidates involved.  Select the exam you wish to move by clicking in the radio button next to the exam name and click on **Next**.   ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-19-0622-AM.png?width=784&height=665&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-19-0622-AM.png) Select to either move the exam to a different time within the same session, or to a different session. Please refer to current [JCQ regulations](https://www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/ice---instructions-for-conducting-examinations/) when resolving clashes. ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-16-3503-AM.png?width=783&height=664&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-16-3503-AM.png) If changing the start time within the current session, either select an existing start time or add one using the time picker and click on **Next**. In the example below, the French Listening exam is 35 minutes, and we are choosing to start the Reading exam at 09:40. The red flag indicates that there is one candidate who has extra time so will still have an unresolved clash. ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-18-4986-AM.png?width=786&height=673&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-18-4986-AM.png) In the example below, we have chosen **Do not resolve** for the candidate with extra time. ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-16-6018-AM.png?width=786&height=643&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-16-6018-AM.png) After clicking **Confirm**, we are now left with just one clash to resolve.   Repeat the above process using times to suit this candidate.   ![A screenshot of a computer AI-generated content may be incorrect.](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-19-3361-AM.png?width=690&height=150&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-09-00-19-3361-AM.png) As well as moving exams to a different session or a different start time within the same session, you can also move them to a different start time in a different session (subject to JCQ regulations).  In the example below, candidates have a clash between Citizenship, German Listening and German Reading on the afternoon of 8 May. In this case, you may wish to move the Citizenship exam to 11:00 and then supervise the candidates until they take their Listening exam at 13:30.
