[Cover management](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/mis/cover-management?hsLang=en-gb) # Room cover and changes Room cover and changes   **Curriculum \> Timetable Setup \> Cover \> Cover rooms** to view the page to manage rooms for cover.  This page enables the cover manager to close rooms and to move groups into different rooms. When viewing, the top section of the table shows all groups that are not allocated to a specific room. This may be intentionally timetabled or because the group has become displaced due to exams etc. The number of teaching periods in the heading will match the lesson structure from the timetable import. ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-10-00-44-9123-AM.png?width=1343&height=453&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-10-00-44-9123-AM.png) Users can also add a note to a room and manage the allocation and un-allocation of groups to rooms on an ad-hoc basis.  If no group is allocated to the room it will display as free. Filters at the top of the table allow school sites to be selected (as set up under premises), a display for All rooms, free rooms, closed room, closed and free rooms, and a date picker.  Room names can also be sorted by name or capacity from the header row (to display the room capacity this needs to be added via **School \> Room management**). ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-10-00-45-7762-AM.png?width=1351&height=153&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-10-00-45-7762-AM.png) #### **Allocating and un-allocating groups** Click on the cell for an unallocated group and a pop up will show a selection of rooms to choose from. The room capacity will display if available, clicking on a room will allocate the group.  ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-10-00-44-2714-AM.png?width=302&height=257&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-10-00-44-2714-AM.png) If a room cell for a period is selected this will display the option of assigning any groups not allocated to a room with an additional note if required. ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-10-00-44-6710-AM.png?width=357&height=476&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-10-00-44-6710-AM.png) **Change room status** Click on a room from the left side column and a pop-up will allow the actions to Close, Make Free, Clear Room Status and Enter a note.  This will apply the status for the entire day for the room. Setting a room to Free will remove the timetabled groups but they will still display.
