# Staff payscales

To maintain annual changes to staff pay scales users can add a table of the pay ranges and thresholds to the MIS.

Current functionality: We advise that schools add the current pay scale payments and then contact the support team so we can map to the existing contracts. 

Upcoming functionality: As changes to pay are made at different points of the year for various staff contracts,  schools will be able to set an effective date to apply updates to staff contracted to a specific scale.  

To enable go to **Settings \> School contact details and settings \> MIS tab**:

**Permissions**

Users will require the permission to manage Staff Pay scales and manage Staff contracts.

**Setting up Pay scales**

Go to **Staff \> Payscales** to access the management page  and select the Pay scale you wish to create from the drop down menu:

Use the 'Add new level' to view a modal to add each level within the pay scale with the details for the pay range minimum and maximum thresholds.

Click 'Save' to view the level added to the scale. Repeat for each level to be added i.e. M1 to M6 for teachers main payscale.

If you add current pay awards to the scales and are waiting for updates as soon as you you have the percentage increase a pay change can be added to the all the data in the table.

Applying 4% will update the base pay and minimum/maximum by 4% automatically.
