[Settings](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/mis/settings?hsLang=en-gb) # Terminologies Terminologies can be accessed via **School \> Schools settings \> Terminologies**.  The MIS is populated with the terminologies from the CBDS and Staff workforce codes for the statutory returns in England, and from the data set for PLASC in Wales.  The system based terminologies from the governments’ external data sets will remain updated and maintained by GO 4 Schools.  System sets will have the specific codes relating to their source in the terminologies listings and the Codeset name.  The terminologies listing page can be searched to look for specific code sets in use.  #### **Adding a school terminology** Schools can add their own terminologies (as well as manage system based terminologies added by GO 4 Schools) to support areas such as agencies, agents and medical conditions.  ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-12-47-18-5540-PM.png?width=722&height=167&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-12-47-18-5540-PM.png) To edit a school terminology select the edit icon to access the details of the specific term and from here you can view all the individual terms within a code set, and add additional terms.   The order of the terms can be altered by dragging them within the list, and each term can be edited if required: ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-12-47-17-7401-PM.png?width=1649&height=286&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-12-47-17-7401-PM.png) When adding a new term (note this is only for school terminologies, and not those from CBDS) a pop-up modal allows the details to be completed, NB once added to the set it cannot be removed.   Terms can be academic year specific and be given an end date.  ![A screenshot of a computer Description automatically generated](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-12-47-18-7916-PM.png?width=794&height=539&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-12-47-18-7916-PM.png) #### **Aliasing terms** Terms can be aliased via +Add new alias on the edit modal #### ![](https://supporttest.go4schools.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Apr-10-2026-12-47-18-2877-PM.png?width=1361&height=837&name=undefined-Apr-10-2026-12-47-18-2877-PM.png) You will need to enter an alias code and name before saving.
