# Timetable clash management

#### **Curriculum \> Timetable set up: Timetables \> Timetable clash report**

Via this page you can view and resolve timetable clashes. There are 4 types of clashes: Room clashes, teacher clashes, group clashes, student clashes:

- Room clashes appear when a room is used for more than one lesson at the same time
- Teacher clashes appear when a teacher is teaching more than one lesson at the same time
- Student clashes appear when a student is taking more than one lesson at the same time
- Group clashes appear when a group is scheduled for more than one lesson at the same time.

 

Three icons are used on the page, each with their own count and modal for resolving. Student and group clashes both deal with students so they are combined into one. 

Some clashes are expected, for example a large room being used by two classes at the same time so we allow schools to mark a clash a ‘do not resolve’. Once a clash is resolved, it will be resolved for every week in the timetable that the clash occurs in.

 

**Once the timetable is imported clashes can be viewed and the icons will reflect the clashes, e.g.**

#### **Teacher clash**

#### **Room clash**

#### **Student clashes**

The group list can be expanded to show all students in a group with a clash:

Each time a clash is resolved the count of clashes will decrease.

 

#### **Group student clashes**

These can be resolved by changing the student group.

It is important to note that when a student has a clash for a specific lesson or group that when resolved this is creating a priority in the timetable.  The student will remain in both groups and therefore in markbooks as they retain their group membership.  If viewing a register from the markbook or the main menu via **My groups \> Group** attendance link a student will show in the register for the both subject groups as these registers are based on group membership. 

When a clash is resolved in the timetable the priority selection will reflect on the student timetable in all areas of the MIS and when using the link for attendance from the staff or student timetable the student will only show in the prioritised register. 

#### **Editing clashes**

By reselecting the resolved clashed they can be edited and altered as required.

#### **Timetable report**

Once the timetable is imported the reports page allows the timetable to be printed or saved as a PDF in various views. 

**Curriculum \> Timetable set up: Timetables \> Timetable Report** accesses the page to view timetables.
