# Daily attendance calculation
### **Daily attendance per year group– after AM (morning) registration**
Raw figures can be found in the ‘new attendance explorer’, located in the menu at the top of the year group pages.

Change the date in the date picker to today.
You will need to know the cohort size of the year group. You can either scroll to the bottom of the page to view the total number of students in the left most column. You can also use the total ‘Possible marks’ figure, but you need to halve this number to get cohort size (need to halve the figure as it includes AM and PM marks).
Locate the number of AM present marks from the total field in the ‘Present marks’ column, and then perform the calculation outlined below.
#### **Calculation: Present marks ÷ Cohort size (halve the possible marks total) x 100**
### **Locating daily attendance per year group – after PM (afternoon) registration**
This figure can be obtained for the same attendance explorer under the column titled ‘percentage attendance’
### **Calculating daily attendance for the whole school – after PM (afternoon)**
You need to total up the number of ‘Possible present marks’ (highlighted red) for each year group on the day. Then total up the number of ‘Present marks’ (highlighted yellow) for each year group on the day. Then complete the calculation shown below.

#### **Calculation: Total present marks ÷ Total possible marks x 100**
You could also use a similar calculation to identify the daily attendance for the whole school after the AM registration, but would need to use the following calculation instead.
**Calculation**: **Halve** the total present marks ÷ **Halve** the total possible marks x 100
**Worked example after AM registration:**
***Possible present marks***
Y7 = 501
Y8 = 502
Y9 = 479
Y10 = 400
Y11 = 406
Total possible present marks = 2288 (half of this is 1144)
***Present marks for today***
Y7 = 441
Y8 = 429
Y9 = 426
Y10 = 342
Y11 = 355
Total present marks for today = 1993 (half of this is 997, rounded up)
\[Because we are working out the daily attendance after only AM registration, we halve both totals.\]
***997 ÷ 1144 x 100 = 87.15% attendance for AM attendance for a day.***
