# Making sure all student qualifications are recorded in GO 4 Schools for accurate Progress 8 and Attainment 8 scores
Some of your students may be studying courses that are not in your school's MIS but which contribute towards Progress 8 and Attainment 8 measures.
The DfE has published a list of approved qualifications [here](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/key-stage-4-qualifications-discount-codes-and-point-scores). We recommend that you check any qualifications you are unsure about counting in the performance tables spreadsheet on this webpage.
Initial research with our customer base identified that the most common areas are:
Musical instruments
Foreign Languages
College courses
**Musical instruments**
Grades 6-8 in any instrument or theory examination are recognised as Level 3 qualifications. Attainment 8 points for these courses can be found in the DfE document on secondary accountability measures [here](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/progress-8-school-performance-measure).
**Foreign Languages**
Many schools have a number of students taking languages outside of the main curriculum, either as their first language or in addition to their main school curriculum. The majority of these qualifications are eligible for the EBacc slot.
**College Courses**
Schools often have a number of students on single or multiple day release to other organisations whilst in Year 10. They can be doing a single or multiple set of qualifications, which also need to be accounted for as well as included in the key statistics.

**Getting these qualifications in to GO**
These subjects can be added in two ways
A subject and markbook can be set up using feed rules for each of the new qualifications and current, target and actual added accordingly.
If students have already gained the qualification previous to inputting the data then they can be added as actual grades.
We recommend that schools use the first option where possible and that this is done at the start of the academic year. This gives a more accurate indication of pupil performance for Attainment 8 and Progress 8 measures.
