# Managing student attribute sets
You can choose to group attributes into sets, which will then be available to display in markbooks. An attribute can belong to multiple sets. This can be used to create your own custom popouts in markbooks.
### Listing attribute sets
Attribute sets are available under the **Curriculum** menu:
GO 4 Schools has some default sets for system attributes already setup, such as Demographic, Enrolment, etc. The **Attribute sets** column on the left shows sets available, the **Attributes in set** column on the right shows the individual attributes within the selected set. You can use this view to change the names of non-system attribute sets and to assign a colour code to any attribute set. The latter can help users when an attribute set is being used as a popout in markbooks. Finally the gear icon can be used to change how the attributes in the set are displayed, and for which year groups they should be available in markbooks.
### Creating a new attribute set
To create your own set of student attributes, click on the **Add a new attribute set** button. A new attribute set will be created at the bottom of the list with a default name. You can click on the name to overwrite it. You can assign a colour suing the colour picker on the left. To assign attributes to your new set, click on the **Change attribute assignments** button on the right.
### Assigning attributes to an attribute set
To change the attributes assigned to a set, once you've clicked the **Change attribute assignments** you will be offered the full list of attributes to choose from, once you have made your selections click **OK** then **Save** on the attribute sets page. Attributes can belong to multiple sets.
