# Quick Guide to Copying Marksheets
**Copying marksheets**
To help schools setup uniform marksheets across a key stage or across the school, we have implemented a basic copy marksheet function. Initially, there are some limitations on this functionality:
- The destination markbook needs to be set up initially – attaching a qualification will suffice.
- The destination markbook must be the same markbook type (Standard, BTEC, NVQ etc) as the source markbook.
- The source marksheet cannot use auto scaling – advanced scaling and no scaling are fine.
- The source marksheet cannot contain assessments that are using auto scaling - advanced and no scaling are fine.
- To balance performance with convenience, we’ve limited the copy to 20 markbooks at a time.
- Copying a sheet will copy all settings/assessments/grading schemes but none of the grades or marks. It will appear as the bottom sheet in the destination markbook.
### Copying a marksheet
A typical need for copying marksheets is where a school does summative reporting, and wants the same marksheet in all subjects.
Once you’ve created your source marksheet, and added your assessments and grading schemes (if required) to it, you must save the markbook, and then you can then push the marksheet out to other markbooks.
In the top corner of the marksheet editor there is a selector labelled “Sheet Options”.
Clicking on this gives you two options – “Delete this sheet…” and “Copy sheet to…”
By selecting “Copy sheet to…” you are presented with a pop up that lists all of your year groups on the left, and allows you to pick through the subjects you want the sheet copied to, with invalid markbooks faded in colour:
For this example, I need to copy the marksheet to all viable markbooks in years 7 and 8, which covers 26 subjects, in the screenshot below you can see my counter has turned orange, and the “Confirm” button is not able to be used:
I’ve removed the year 8 markbooks from this selection, and then can return to those later. Once I click “Confirm”, I get a result screen showing where the marksheet has been copied:
### Marksheet display in destination markbooks
Where the marksheet has been copied out, it is added as the last sheet in the markbook, and brings with it any grading schemes, weighting, scaling (advanced and no scaling only), as well as design elements and due dates set.
This is in my year 7 art markbook, and as it already had a sheet with weighting attached, you can see that my new sheet is only contributing 50% to the current grade – in this instance I want to delete the pre-existing Y7 Summative sheet, but if it was something I needed to retain, I may need to edit the weighting.
