# Raw marks to points marksheet design tool
For qualifications where the raw marks are mapped directly to points which change for each exam series this marksheet/assessment type will allow the points to be edited for the grade to these accurately contribute to the overall qualification. You will need to have the qualification specification available for the specific assessment structure. You will also require access to the Pearson **Raw points calculator** to access the mapping for each assessment.
The top section allows the sheet’s name and credits values to be adjusted. You can select whether the sheet is a core, mandatory or other type of unit. You can also set a sheet to be **private**, meaning it is not visible to students and parents, by default this will set the sheet weighting to zero, you can change this, but it can lead to parents and students seeing discrepancies when they see an overall grade. You can flag the sheet to use the residual scheme for the subject, as well as change the marksheet grading scheme. Finally, you can set the assessment/marksheet visibility settings for the student page as well as in the markbook/marksheet. The top area also allows you to edit the grading scheme for the marksheet.
You should edit your marksheet grading scheme to remove any of the grades that are not available for the individual unit, if needed you can add a **Near pass** grade at the bottom, and alias the **U** grade to a **W/T** (working towards). The central section allows the way in which the assessments are combined to be changed. Option include a simple average, a weighted average, find the sum of the best *n* assessments, etc. If you select the option **Do not calculate an overall grade/mark** this will automatically zero-weight the marksheet. Once an actual exam mark is entered we recommend this is changed to the rightmost assessment, and that the exam result is put in the last column.
The bottom section allows you to add your marks to points assessments. Once added, you need to edit the grading scheme to set the max marks and points allocations - to edit these you need to click on the edit assessment grading scheme button shown below.
Once the popup appears, you can enter your maximum mark, and click the link to **Fill scheme to maximum mark**. This will flood fill all marks from the maximum to zero. The points can then be completed to map against the raw marks tken from the Pearson calculator.
The assessment grading scheme should match the raw marks to points as per the Person conversion for the specific examination.
