# Report attributes
Each report attribute is a pick list that can be displayed to staff when they are completing a report for a student. You can use attributes to report on things like attitude to learning, effort, etc. To see your existing report attributes, you need to use the **Attributes** link under **Reports & Snapshots** in the **Curriculum** menu:
You can create as many attributes as you want and can then pick and choose which are included for each report. On the report attributes page, you can also control the order that the attributes are displayed in your reports. To create a new attribute click the **Add a new attribute** button, to edit an existing attribute just click on its name.
Each attribute consists of:
- A name - which is not visible to students or parents.
- A display name - which is visible to students and parents.
- A description.
- A set of choices.
The above screenshot shows the attribute editing page. For the choices, each has a name, description, and point score. Point scores are assigned automatically, but you can assign them manually by selecting **I want to assign points manually**. You may want to use this functionality if you want some choices to carry negative values and others to carry positive values. You can also flag the attribute to be used on the[**Report attribute marksheet**](https://support.go4schools.com/modular/report-attribute-marksheet) which allows attributes to be recorded alongside assessment data in markbooks.
If you edit an attribute that is currently being written and not yet snapshot, teachers will see the change immediately. However, when you snapshot a set of reports a copy of the attributes used by the report is taken. The snapshot/published reports are then unaffected.
