# Tracking/Recording Marks for Homework
Once homework tasks have been assigned to students, they can be tracked as complete, late etc. and optionally, have marks recorded for them via the online markbooks if the homework task has been linked to an assessment.
If a piece of homework has been linked to an assessment, the tracking options for the homework task will appear in the relevant marksheet; otherwise, the homework can be tracked via the “Additional homework” marksheet which will automatically be added to the list of marksheets. This will provide a tracking column for each piece of homework, providing the tasks have tracking enabled:
To record the status and/or mark for homework that is linked to an assessment, visit the appropriate marksheet.
By default, the assessment will be shown, allowing you to record a mark. If you tick the “Homework” checkbox you will see an additional column that will allow you to record the status as well. If the status column is greyed out, this could be because the set date has not been reached or the homework task doesn’t have tracking enabled.
Clicking on the “+” icon highlighted in the image will allow you to choose a status to apply to all students in the group for which the homework was set.
If you are recording marks for the homework you will need to enter a mark for each student individually.
