# Using the year group enhanced ribbons
With GO 4 Schools enhanced ribbons, you're able to analyse year group level residual data/grade distributions in a multitude of ways:
- View residuals based on your custom residual schemes.
- Filter the students shown in the ribbons, e.g. to show disadvantaged students only.
- View a larger version of a set of ribbons, and view the underlying tabular data as counts or percentages of students.
- Download the underlying data as a CSV file.
- Open the students in a band in a data explorer.
- Drill down to look at students in a band.
The visibility of the ribbons are controlled by the settings in **Statistics and analysis settings** which is available under the **Curriculum** menu:
You can also choose whether to display the enhanced ribbons, classic ribbons, or both in the **Visibility of statistics** table in the **Statistics and analysis settings**:
Once enabled, the ribbons will display on the year group, subject, and group pages. On the year group pages the residual ribbons are the only ones that will show by default. You can add grade distribution ribbons, and sort both sets by residual scheme/qualification type or department. You can increase/decrease the size of the ribbons, as well as save your ribbon set to display each time you open the year group page:
#### **Adding ribbons**
The **Add ribbon(s)** button that will allow you to pick from various grade distributions and residuals:
Initially the grades/residuals available are the ones set as the main target and progress grades in the **Tracking and progress preferences** table on the **[Grade settings](https://support.go4schools.com/modular/grade-and-residual-settings)** page, but by ticking the **Include all grade types** tick box you can select all grades/residual views that are available.
#### **Filteing ribbons**
Once you've added the ribbons for analysis, you can then set filters for focus groups based on the **[Student attributes](https://support.go4schools.com/modular/student-attributes)** that are set for the analysis of attainment data. You can also filter the subjects shown in the ribbons, which is useful to remove your tutorial subjects for a cleaner view.
When filtering students, you can pick from the set of default values, or by clicking **Specify a new set of students**, create your own custom filtered set:
For example, if you wanted to look at pupil premium students with low prior attainment:
This will add a row of ribbons that only include the students that are pupil premium and LPA:
### **Exploring the data behind the ribbons**
While the ribbons are interactive, you can click on a band and a table of the students making up the band will be displayed:
You are also able to download the data in a CSV format, or open it in a data explorer, where you can add/remove columns, and create a postcard view.
The ribbons are visual representations of data held in a table, to see the tabular data for all of the ribbons in a column, click on the **View column data as a table** button.
You can also view a larger version of a single set of ribbons, as well as the data, by clicking the **View ribbon data in detail or as a table** button next to a set:
