# Writing reports
When you have reports to write, you can access them via the **User/Teacher** menu, if you have active reports, a count will show next to the **Reports** link:
By clicking on the report name, you'll see your groups listed, and the status of those groups:
By clicking on a group name, you'll be taken to the **Teacher view** of the report writing page. In the teacher view mode, the top of the report-writing page indicates which set of reports is being written, and the subject and group of interest. Each student in the group is listed on the page, with the following information:
- Progress of the report writing process, from **Not started** to **2nd review complete**. As a reviewer you can easily click to pass **1st** or **2nd review**. If changes are required, you can click the **Requires attention** flag and this will open up a comment field. As a teacher you can also click the checkbox to indicate **No report required**, for instance if a student has only just joined the subject.
- The student's photograph and attendance.
- Grades for the student. Grade names written in blue will be used in the report. You can also update some grades here (the changes will be recorded on the markbook for the subject as well).
- An **Attributes** box from which the values of attributes for the student can be selected.
- A **Comments** box, in which a text comment can be entered. Clicking in the comment box will give you access to any comment banks available to you. If you report manager has allowed it, you may also be able to write free text. The contents of the **Author** box can be overwritten if required.
If attributes or comments are not required for this report, the corresponding box will be hidden from view.
**Note:** At the bottom of the page is a **Save** button. **We recommend saving your work regularly, as you will be timed out after 20 minutes of inactivity, which can result in you losing work.**
### **Tutor view**
In the tutor view, all of the subject for a single student from the group you are looking at are now displayed, enabling you to quickly review how a student is performing across all their subjects. To move onto the next student, you can choose their name in the **Group** box at the top of the page.
