# Writing reports in the previous academic year

If you have a report which is **in progress** at the time of the academic year changeover, only users with report manager or school manager access will be able to edit it by default. These users will have the option to enable editing for all staff from within the report wizard.

Allowing staff to enter comments and attributes is useful for subject handovers, or even UCAS references.
