# Subject and year group explorers
At the top of the subject and year group pages there are links to data explorers. These are spreadsheet like pages that display information about students that can be sorted and filtered online. You can also export the data as a comma separated value (CSV) file for import into Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets.
The explorers will open initially with a small, predefined set of columns. However, you are then able to define and save a set of columns, or open other sets saved by your school managers or curriculum leaders.
If you'd like to choose your own columns, click on the **Add/remove columns...** button at the top of the page. Here you can choose which columns to add, fix, and remove. If you are struggling to find a particular item in the **Choose columns** tab, try using the search box on the **Find columns** tab instead. Once you've finished you column selection, click **OK** to see the data.
In the top left there is an option to **Load/save a set of columns.** You can use this to load column sets created by others and shared, but all users can create their own sets of columns and save them for future use. Once you've built up a set of columns you want to save, clicking the button will allow you to **Save as a new set**. Give your column set a name and assign it to a group if you wish. A group will create another level/folder in the menu **Load a predefined set of columns**. School managers and curriculum leaders have the option to make the set available for all users. If you have updated an existing column set, you can also **Save the current set of columns**.
You can download your data as well to work with it locally using the **Download in CSV format...** button, as well as view the data in **Student postcard view**. This view will display your chosen columns alongside a photo of the student.
The new year group and subject explorers can be used to view statistical data such as Capped 9 values and number of GCSE passes, as well as data from most GO 4 Schools modules including homework, attendance, and reports. These can be loaded against student attribute and grade data. The new subject explorers allow you to load markbook data down to assessment level.
