Behaviour targets - how they are calculated
The GO 4 Schools behaviour module calculates targets for all students to achieve on a weekly basis. The calculations performed are student specific, based on a student's previous behaviour scores. The calculations aim to set a target that is achievable by the student, yet still requires them to strive.
The following values are defaults, but can be adjusted - please contact the support team if you are interested in changing these values.
- Threshold = 50
- Multiplier = 1.1
- Factor = 4
These values are then used in conjunction with the following three rules:
- Rule 1 - If a calculated target is less than 1, the target is 1, as we always set a positive target.
- Rule 2 - If the score is less than the threshold this rule ensures steady growth while values are low, however a continual increase of 110% will ensure all students reach a point where they cannot meet their targets:
- target = round(cumulativescore * multiplier)
- target = round(cumulativescore * multiplier)
- Rule 3 - If the cumulative score is greater than the threshold then the target is calculated using their scores from the last six weeks. From these values we calculate the student's best score and the student's average score over those six weeks. We then select a value between the student's average and best weekly score:
- bias = ((best - average) / factor)
- target = round(average + bias)
