Overview of the report process
The typical steps involved in completing a set of reports is as follows:
- Creation: As soon as you create a set of reports the reports will be available for staff to write comments and choose values for any attributes you have included.
- Report writing: During the report writing process, reports will automatically pick up the very latest grades from markbooks. Report managers and curriculum leaders can track the report writing process by teacher and/or group.
- First review: Most schools use a system whereby members of a department check each other's reports.
- Second review: Report managers perform spot checks as the second review, but also can review all reports in a set.
- Preparation: When happy with the content of the reports and all checks are done, you prepare the reports for publication. This step locks the reports so that staff can no longer change comments, attribute selections, or grades. It also takes a snapshot of the following information: attendance, summative grades, report attributes, markbook grading scheme, and grade name aliases. After being prepared any subsequent entry of marks/grades into markbooks, or changes to target grades will not affect the snapshot data. While the information is no longer editable by staff, it can still be amended by report managers.
- Publication: After preparing the reports you can then decide if/when to make the reports available to students and/or parents by publishing them.
