Target Grades

Target grades are grades that students work towards. They are often set early in the year by the school data team or teachers and seldom change during the year.

Most schools will not use all of the different types of target grade listed below but the range of options is provided for flexibility. It is possible to configure GO 4 Schools to use just the ones that your school needs. Note that you can adjust the names that your school uses for the grades, e.g. you may want to re-label the “External target” grade as the “FFT target”.

External target

The grade that a student is expected to reach in a given subject by the end of the academic year. This is often the target from the FFT.

This is typically uploaded by the school data team, but can be set to be edited by school managers only, school managers and curriculum leaders, or all staff.

Teacher target

The school-set grade that a student is expected to reach in a given subject by the end of the academic year - typically used to fill in gaps within the External targets, e.g. if a student is not covered by the FFT, or to override the FFT target.

Data can updated as with the External target, although generally set to be editable by school managers and curriculum leaders.

Target (aka Combined target)

Used to select between the two targets above to present a single, unambiguous target to parents. When an external target and a teacher target are both present, the teacher target takes precedence.

This grade is calculated using the external target and teacher target.

Aspirational target

An aspirational target for a student, often FFT5.

Determined by school policy but can be set to be edited by school managers only, school managers and curriculum leaders or all staff

Additional target

An additional target grade for use as you see fit.

Determined by school policy but can be set to be edited by school managers only, school managers and curriculum leaders or all staff
